Tigers labelled head-hunters

MELBOURNE co-captain Cameron Smith last night accused Wests Tigers players of employing illegal tactics to stop star Storm five-eighth Greg Inglis.

Inglis, playing his first premiership game in the No. 6 jersey, was hit high several times in a fiery opening half of the Storm's 18-16 win at Olympic Park.

Asked whether he thought it was a deliberate ploy to put Inglis off his game, Smith said: "Definitely. Greggy, he's a danger to them when he's got the ball, and he's got a new position, so I guess they wanted to test him out a bit, see how he went.

"Every team's going to (test him out). We were trying to get the boys at Benji (Marshall) all night. It's hard. You can't hide the bloke. Every team's going to do it. He just might have to learn to duck."

Smith said the Tigers had targeted Inglis from kick-off.
