Honda finds a home with Ikea

Honda (UK) has sealed a major corporate deal to replace IKEA UK's entire company car fleet with Civic Hybrids. This follows a commitment made by the home furnishings retailer to reduce its environmental impact and in particular, reduce CO2 emissions.

In total, Honda will supply 50 Civic Hybrids this year, with a further delivery in 2008.

John Kingston, Environment Manager at Honda (UK) said: 鈥淐ivic Hybrid is really taking off in the corporate sector where businesses want to be seen to be green.

鈥淚KEA's commitment to replace its entire fleet with Civic Hybrids is a real-life endorsement of the car and the excellent benefits it offers. In terms of cost, fuel efficiency and low emission driving the Civic Hybrid really stacks up," he added.

The Honda Civic Hybrid has a fuel consumption of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 109g/km.

Honda Previews Misano World Superbike

Long-term championship leader James Toseland (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR) has another opportunity to extend his championship lead this weekend, as a revamped and reversed Misano circuit welcomes the 2004 champion and his peer group to yet another overheated weekend of top class Superbike action.

Toseland has led the championship in frequently impressive style since round one and even after a mishap in the rain at Silverstone last time out, he recovered well enough to work his way back through almost the entire field to finish eighth. He is now on 237 points, 23 ahead of Noriyuki Haga and 36 ahead of Max Biaggi.

Roberto Rolfo (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR) has made great advances in set-up and familiarity with his machine at competitive pace recently, and is one of three supported Honda riders in the Superbike class hailing from Italy.

Spied: BMW's upmarket 1-series twins

We've got another three months before BMW finally launches the 1-series coup茅 at the Frankfurt motor show in September. These spy shots are the clearest yet of the two-door notchback, designed to expand the appeal of the 1-series range when it launches in the USA next year.

The disguise around the rear is hiding 3-series coupe-style lights, and under the covers the bootlid is curved, not flat. At the front there are M3-style air intakes in the bumper and heavily flared wheelarches.

What about an M1?

Speculation has been rife that BMW is working on an M-Division version of the 1-series coupe, and Autocar's sources recently confirmed that a proper, M-badged 1-series is in the pipeline for not-long-after the standard car's launch.

The engine it'll run is still unknown.
